Wedding bells are in Matty Strauss’ future. Not his own, of course. He’s about to cater for the biggest event in his career, and the fact he’s had to sell out to do it is just icing on his stress-cake.
Needing to loosen up and forget his worries, Matty takes himself out to his favorite club. Hooking up with a random hottie was part of the plan, but finding out it’s the groom-to-be wasn’t.
** This short story contains an intense sex scene, a snarky main character who gets taken down a peg or two, and a happy ending. **

First person POV: Matt's perspective.
Despite Matty being hired for a high-profile wedding for a super sweet bride and the son of a homophobic senator, he feels that selling out - to the dismay of his community - will help to launch his catering and cake career. Before the big event, he decides a little stress relief is needed; dancing, drinking, and - if lucky, a hookup. He did not expect to score the Brawny paper towel man though. After a good night, reality crashed down on him when Mr. Brawny seems to be marrying the sweet bride and is the son of the anti-gay senator!
Matt was a pretty fun character, torn between wanting to stick to his morals and wanting to launch his career. The story is really too short to get a good grasp on the other characters, but the minor interactions were entertaining (except Amanda). I knew going into it that the story was short, but with this being the "re-edited edition", I'd hoped a little more was added to complete the story more. As it is, the plot - while entertaining and well-written - was thin. There was some dynamics, but not a lot of real depth. Matt faced a couple of hurdles, but all were resolved by the end. Predictability was low and there's a fun surprise to be had. The conclusion concludes not a thing, not even an implied HEA. This would be better suited as a prequel novella for a coming full-length novel - which I would happily read.

Having His Cake edition by Genna Donaghy Romance eBooks Reviews
Very short, but sweet nonetheless; I would have loved for this to keep going.
Eaton was charming and quite shy it seemed, like he was okay being in the background of things.
He meets Matt, who happens to be his brothers wedding cake maker/wedding planner since the real wedding planner didn't do much and Matty was left picking up her slack. But, a mixup between the groom and his brother makes an awkward encounter even more awkward.
I saw it coming, but I really hoped it was what I thought it was because I liked the thought of Eaton and Matty together.
Sigh.... if only it was longer P
Very cute though!
Really enjoyable short story. Eaton is super sweet and Matty is a bit of a spitfire. I liked that Matty finally took a stand morally. He and Eaton's dance made me smile.
